Teaching the Truth: Navigating Non-fiction in the Contemporary Classroom, Vol. 30, Issue Special 77 of TEXT is out now.

This collection of autoethnographic, pedagogical reflections seeks to explore and question what it is we do when we teach life narrative. What is particular or novel about teaching in this interdisciplinary space at this moment in the 21st century? How might we articulate and share our successes and challenges?

Guest edited by Kylie Cardell, Kate Douglas and Shannon Sandford, contributors include Orly Lael Netzer, Nicole Stamant, Rachel Sykes, Lisa Ortiz-Vilarelle, Terri Tomsky, Vanessa Berry, Leila Moayeri Pazargadi and Leena Käosaar.

Topics canvassed include the contributions of life narrative to theory and theory to life writing, teaching First Nations life narrative as non-Indigenous teachers and composing autobiographical comics.

Sarah is a writer and PhD candidate at Swinburne University researching the possibilities of the contemporary short story cycle exploring women’s experiences of isolation, mental illness and relational agency. Her writing has been published in ACE IV, The Writing Mind, The Incompleteness Book, TEXT Journal and Lip Magazine among others. Sarah teaches creative writing at Swinburne University, volunteers as Social Media Coordinator for Q-Lit Festival and serves as a member of the Executive Committee of Management for the Australasian Association of Writing Programs (AAWP).
