February 2010: Writing lecturer Jenny Ledgar won Radio National Breakfast's Wonderful Copenhagen poetry competition; the poem was read out on air. Undergraduate Violette Rose-Jones has had poetry published in Lynx, a prestigious haiku journal and The Greensilk Journal, general poetry; also she has had a haiku published in the erotica journal Oysters and Chocolate. PhD student Iris Curteis has been asked to teach creative writing through the University of the Third Age, a short course of 6 weeks, and The Dorrigo Writers' Group has launched a radio programme on community radio featuring works by local writers. Margaret Heggen/Webster, honours graduate, winning the Table Topics Section for best impromptu oral narrative 'I Should've Known Better' in the Area 17 Toastmaster's Conference in October 09 at Brushgrove entitled her to contest the Regional Titles in March 2010; an article announcing the results appeared in Coastal Views, 23rd October, '09. Robin Archbold, undergraduate, was included on the programme on the Program for the Salt on the Tongue Poetry Festival: Goolwa, SA. 23rd-26th April 2010, where he will run a workshop on performance poetry. He also featured in festivals at Melbourne and Woodford. PhD student Judi Stockwell teaches creative writing for the Open University. Recent completions in Honours are Honours: Jim Hearn, Margaret Heggen/Webster, Steven Barnes. Dr Victor Marsh, tutor, will be having a book launched in April. Undergraduate Christine James had her first magazine article published in Hangzhou, China; it is about having a foot massage. Tutor and PhD candidate Lainie Jones had a paper 'Family Puzzles: Pictures of My Mother’s Life, Pieces of Myself' published in Canadian Oral History Journal. Dr Moya Costello had 'At home in text on the coast,' published in Something rich and strange : sea changes, beaches and the littoral in the antipodes (Wakefield Press 2009).
